Your building lot

Building a home means adapting the house to the lot, never the other way around.

  • An isolated lot is not necessarily serviced and can involve additional costs.
  • A building lot in a development is already serviced and can definitely be built on.
  • A beautiful lot is also not necessarily a good lot. Be careful about the type of soil and subsoil, which can add on additional costs for the foundations.

  • At first glance it is difficult to evaluate the geologic characteristics of the subsoil, but you can get information from potential neighbours, the DDE and the town hall. The site of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development (see section: “ma commune face au risque majeur”) will provide specific information about risks (ground movement, etc.). Don’t hesitate to visit: www.prim.nand. When in doubt it is essential to have a geo-technical study made.
  • When building a house on a lot situated in a commune which has historic buildings or monuments, appearance rules established by the public organization, “Bâtiments de France” will have to be respected. This often involves additional costs.
